TENURE TRACK *

Assistant Professor: Earned doctorate required; formal post-doctoral research training preferred. Previous teaching experience in nursing at the community college, college or university level is required. Candidates will be expected to establish a strong program of funded research in their own substantive area of interest.

Associate Professor: Earned doctorate required with previous experience in the ranks of Instructor or Assistant Professor at the community college, college or university level. Candidates will be expected to have a strong history of funded research and scholarship in their own substantive area of interest.

Professor: Earned doctorate required with previous experience in the ranks of Instructor, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at the community college, college or university level. Candidates will be expected to have a strong history of funded research and scholarship in their own substantive area of interest and mentoring of junior faculty into the role.

CLINICAL TRACK *

Assistant Professor/Instructor (Clinical): Earned doctorate required with national certification (when applicable) in specialty area. Must have expertise and experience in clinical specialty and should demonstrate leadership in the practice setting. Candidates must have substantial experience in clinical nursing education.

Associate Professor (Clinical): Earned doctorate required with national certification (when applicable) in specialty area. Statewide recognition as an expert in clinical practice is required. Must be a master teacher with continuing excellence in clinical practice.

Professor (Clinical): Earned doctorate preferred with national certification (when applicable) in specialty area. National recognition as an expert in clinical practice is required. Must be a master teacher with continuing excellence in clinical practice and mentoring of junior faculty into the role.

LECTURER RANK*

(Non-tenure track): Earned Master's degree in nursing required with national certification (when applicable) in specialty area. Must have expertise and experience in clinical specialty. Candidates must have substantial experience in clinical nursing education.

*A Master’s degree in nursing is a standard requirement for all faculty ranks in addition to the respective higher education degree noted for each rank.
