Biography

Nicki Markovetz has been at the College of Nursing for 30 years. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1971 with her BSN. After years of working at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in various capacities in the Ob-Gyn Department, Nicki left Iowa in 1980 to attend the University of Mississippi Nurse Midwifery Program. Upon completion she returned to Iowa and obtained a Master's degree in Preventive Medicine and Environmental Health.

Nicki participated in the development of the Special Gynecology Unit at UIHC in 1973, the Nurse-Midwifery Service in 1993 and the Cross-Cultural Nursing Experience in Jamaica for College of Nursing students beginning in 1998. Nicki enjoys seeing obstetrics through the eyes of undergraduate students and combining these experiences in community health settings.
