Biography

Dr. Sara Kraus completed her BSN at the University of Iowa College of Nursing and started her nursing career at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in the Division of Children’s and Women’s Services as a staff RN. She completed her graduate education at Clarke University in Dubuque, IA, where she obtained MSN and DNP degrees with certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She initially practiced as a primary care provider in rural clinics and spent several years away from Iowa City. She returned to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 2016 and has specialized in the ambulatory care of patients with chronic lung diseases ever since, primarily at the Iowa River Landing location in Coralville, IA. She additionally maintains an administrative role with the Lung Cancer Screening Program at the University of Iowa. In addition to her clinical role, she accepted a part-time position at the University of Iowa College of Nursing in fall 2023 as an assistant professor in the Family Nurse Practitioner DNP program. She has a special interest in chronic disease management and population health screenings.
