Nursing Goals/Interests: I am also the Public Relations representative in UIANS. Nursing career goals are to be the chief nursing officer at a large hospital.

Year in School: Mitch is a Senior in nursing school and will graduate in December 2010.
Nursing Goals/Interests: Mitch is affiliated with several prestigious nursing organizations including sigma theta tau international, the summer III internship program at Mayo Clinic and the University of Iowa Honors program. Mitch is a strong supporter of men in the nursing profession and is eager to begin his career as a nurse. Mitch hopes to work in an intensive care unit or emergency room when he graduates and aspires to obtain a graduate level education after several years of nursing practice.

Year in School: Austin is currently a junior in the nursing program with expectations to graduate in May 2012.
Nursing Goals/Interests: After graduation, Austin plans on gaining a few years of valuable experience as an ICU nurse, and then he plans on going for his DNP in Nurse Anesthesia. Austin was raised on a farm just outside of town. Le Mars, IA is a town known as the Ice Cream Capital of the World as it is where Wells Blue Bunny Ice Cream is produced. He enjoys playing all sports, hanging out with friends, relaxing and Hawkeye athletics.

Year in School: Roy is a non-traditional senior in nursing school and will expect to graduate in December of 2010.
Nursing Goals/Interests: After graduation Roy hopes to work in an ICU or Medical/Surgical floor for several years before moving on to graduate school, where hopefully he can earn a DNP in Family Practice. Roy’s hobbies include sailing, playing the guitar, reading, and video games. He is a member of the Army Reserves in a local Medical Unit and also has a 6-year-old daughter, and hopes that he can continue to be a positive role model for her.

Year in School: Chris is a senior in nursing school and will expect to graduate in May 2011.
Nursing Goals/Interests: Chris is a very strong supporter for the Men in Nursing and feels that everyone should get an equal chance at being what they want to be in life. Chris is not just affiliated with the Men in Nursing of Iowa but he is also affiliated with other student organization as well as UIANS (University of Iowa Association of Nursing Students) and the UIMSNA (University of Iowa Minority Student Nurse Association). After graduation Chris hopes in finding a career and gaining enough experience in the ICU or ER which he will eventually go back to graduate school for his CRNA. In the meantime Chris uses his free time in working out, playing sports (volleyball, football, and basketball) and just hanging out with friends.
