The University of Iowa has a long-standing tradition of producing nursing leaders for practice, education and research. For more than a century, College of Nursing graduates have achieved distinguished careers as scholars, educators, practitioners and nurse executives. Today, as in the past, the College of Nursing is transforming practice through education in the art and science of nursing.

The future challenges in health care are enormous: expanding demand for care, older and sicker patients, more complex technology, new health care settings as well as health care team configurations. The College of Nursing is poised to address these challenges with innovative academic programs that facilitate students’ progression toward advanced academic degrees. Students develop expertise in managing major clinical conditions and health problems; acquire understanding of how systems of care delivery function; expand their facility with information management and fiscal stewardship; and become adept in implementing evidence-based practice and organizational leadership.

At Iowa, we are committed to preparing future nurse leaders with the courage, creativity and passion to use their skills and knowledge to improve the health of individuals and communities.

Welcome to nursing at Iowa!
