CROSS CULTURAL NURSING EXPERIENCE

DESCRIPTION:

Developing the international student study abroad
program with the Univesity of Iceland has been a
particular focus of the College of Nursing since 1998.

This trans-cultural nursing education opportunity is designed 1) to provide students with the opportunity to compare and contrast the discipline and profession of nursing, nursing education and practice, the healthcare system and healthcare practices in Iceland and the United States, and 2) to provide an opportunity for students to experience living in this uniquely Nordic culture.

Participants have the opportunity to complete site visits to various primary and tertiary health care centers as well as related state-of-the art health related organizations and corporations. They also have ample time to explore the unusual natural environment of this geothermal island, and to experience the nightlife Reykjavik has to offer.
