Student Life
The University provides an array of diversity resources.
First-year students who are US citizens or permanent residents whose enrollment contributes to a diverse learning environment at Iowa are eligible to apply for an Advantage Iowa Award. Selection criteria includes race/ethnic background, socioeconomic factors, whether the student is a first-generation college student (parents have not graduated from college), and participation in a federal TRiO program. Awards are based on academic achievements, and students with an Admission Index of 110 or higher are considered automatically upon admission. Support is available for eight semesters or until completion of the bachelor's degree, whatever comes first.
UI College of Nursing also offers a full tuition gerontology scholarship plus stipend for underrepresented minorities and men.
