Clinical Focus:
I am a nurse practitioner at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in the general cardiology clinic. In this clinic I have my own regular patients and see new and consulting referrals. At times this involves rating a patient's cardiac risk for undergoing various types of surgery, from hernia repair to transplant surgery. I have continually been a preceptor for NP students for various universities and colleges. Another unique experience is guest lecturing NP classes at our College of Nursing. My interest has been in preventative health care. Due to this interest my capstone project will be focusing on patients with cardiovascular disease and secondary prevention. I will be monitoring referred patients' LDL statistics for the outcomes and ultimately developing a plan to promote secondary prevention.
