Cognate Area : Geriatric Policy and Health Care Law
Research Focus:
My research focuses on the therapeutic jurisprudence of federal rules to determine the beneficial or detrimental impact on nursing practice. Utilizing this concept, my dissertation is an analysis of stakeholder and nurses role in the formulation, conversion and implementation of an EBP weight loss guideline into a federal standard/rule of The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Second, I will perform an analysis of formal dispute resolution judicial rulings to determine how substitutive (ex: documentation) or procedural (ex: correct application of policies and procedures) evidence influences judicial decision making to provide a framework describing the intersection of law and nursing practice.
