Associate Dean for Research
Ann Marie McCarthy, PhD, RN, PNP, FAAN
Dr. McCarthy has expertise in pediatric psychology, children with chronic conditions and school health and school nursing. Her research investigates cognitive-behavioral interventions to alleviate children’s distress during painful procedures.

Director
Linda Liu Hand, PhD
Dr. Hand coordinates the operations of the ONR and consults with faculty, UIHC nursing partners, and students who are developing research proposals, projects and manuscripts; leads and facilitates faculty, postdoc, and student initiatives to achieve goals for funding, scholarship and collaboration; and identifies resources needed to meet research objectives.

Research Office Administrator
Nancy Goldsmith
Nancy assists faculty, post-docs and doctoral students in the preparation and submission of grant applications. She is also the ONR staff person assisting doctoral students with post-award grants management. As a member of the University IRB-01, she is also a resource for human subjects information and available to assist with HawkIRB applications. In addition, she coordinates other ONR non-grant activities.

Grants Manager
Linda Thomsen
Linda supports faculty and their research staff with start-up activities on newly awarded grants. She assists faculty with small grants in their day-to-day grant management, including hiring personnel, purchasing, and guidance in account management. Linda also backs up the ONR staff as needed in preparation and submission of faculty grant applications.

Statistician
Yelena Perkhounkova, PhD
Dr. Perkhounkova works directly with faculty and postdoctoral fellows preparing grant proposals and conducting research. She helps to formulate research questions, choose an appropriate study design, and develop plans for analysis, data entry, and data management.

Secretary
Linda Curran
Linda provides secretarial support to the Associate Dean, Senior Advisor to the Dean, and Director. She also assists faculty in formatting manuscripts and coordinates book publication projects; forwards grants and manuscripts to the CON editor for review; and assists in complying with the NIH Public Access policy. She collects and maintains updated NIH investigator bios for use on grants. She provides guidance to faculty and students creating and printing conference posters. She also assists postdocs and doctoral students with travel and purchasing.

Data Manager
Maria Hein
Maria provides data management support, including developing, cleaning and managing data files; designing and working with existing databases; building datasets from a variety of sources; assisting with statistical analysis; and preparing tables, charts, and other graphics for publication.
