The Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence seeks to train nurse scientists and clinicians to ensure that "best geriatric practices" are produced and used by:

  1. Educational Programs that prepare geriatric nurse clinicians
  2. Practicing clinicians and clinical agencies
  3. Policy-makers who control resources and influence the environments where older persons live
  4. The lay public to enhance self-care and caregiving skills

Grant to Bolster Smith’s Research on Late Life Depression [1] - Marianne Smith, PhD, RN, assistant professor at UI’s College of Nursing, was recently awarded a five-year Research Project Grant (R01) from the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) at the National Institute of Health (NIH)
