What do you do at the College of Nursing?
I am the strategic communications manager at the college.
What is your favorite part of your job, and why?
Without question, my favorite aspect of the job is helping to spread the word about the incredible work and accomplishments of the CON’s students, faculty and staff.
What did you do before you worked at the college?
I worked at Stamats Communications in Cedar Rapids. I was the managing editor for one of their B-to-B trade magazines called Interiors & Sources.
Where did you grow up? Tell us something about your childhood/hometown.
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago in a town called Glen Ellyn. After my freshman year of high school, my dad took a new job that moved us to Arizona. I finished high school and college (ASU) in Tempe, AZ, and eventually met my wife there (who ironically is from Iowa City).
Tell us about your family.
I have been married to my wife, Megan, for almost 13 years. She also works at UI (College of Education). We have three wonderful children: Danny (9); Connor (5); and Grace (2). They are my world!
What do you do away from the office? Tell us about your hobbies/volunteer activities, etc.
I love to golf! Unfortunately, it rarely loves me back … but I still enjoy getting out there and taking some hacks. The majority of my free time is spent with family and friends. Having three kids keeps us running around pretty good.
If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
We haven’t traveled much over the last few years, so the list is long. I would love to travel all over Europe … England, France, Germany, Italy, etc. I have been to Ireland and absolutely loved it. I really want to go back someday I’d also love to go to Scotland. (After all, it is the birthplace of golf!) We went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon and I wouldn’t mind vacationing someplace tropical again. Our boys learned to ski last winter so we’re also eager to hit the slopes in Colorado. As I said, the list is long!
