Dr. Ramey joined the Adult and Gerontology faculty in 2006, after serving as an Assistant Professor at Marquette University for three years. Dr. Ramey's program of research investigates the relationships among Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) risk factors and CVD morbidity in large law enforcements cohorts. Her work has extended to nine Midwestern states and currently is located within the Milwaukee Police Department where she studies inflammatory markers of stress as well. While health promotion has primarily been the focus of Dr. Ramey's work, other interests include extending her work to the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah, OK, exploring contributing factors to the prevalence of CVD and risk in the Native American population. Dr. Ramey was selected by the American Nurses Association to represent nursing at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention-American Medical Association Readiness Conference held in Washington, D.C., July 2004.

Most recently she served as a reviewer for the National Nurse Emergency Preparedness Initiative, supported by Homeland Security and AACN. Dr. Ramey has a secondary appointment in the College of Public Health at the University of Iowa and works with multidisciplinary graduate students in the Occupational Health Nursing Program.
