The Evidence Based Practice (EBP) Guidelines developed and maintained at the College of Nursing enhance our reputation as a leader in nursing practice and scholarship.

Our EBP guidelines on geriatric nursing, produced and distributed through the University of Iowa Hartford Center, are known both nationally and internationally and contribute to the achievement and maintenance of our #1 ranking in Gerontological Nursing among public institutions.

Our EBP guidelines on pediatric nursing and nursing administration are produced and managed through the Office for Nursing Research [1] at the University of Iowa College of Nursing. The ONR partners with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing Services and Patient Care [2].

Working together, the Hartford Center and the Office for Nursing Research provide evidence based interventions to clinicians and practitioners world-wide.

For University of Iowa faculty and students, EBP guidelines:

  • Provide opportunities for graduate students to publish and afford Clinical Track Faculty a means to fulfill clinical scholarship criteria;
  • Are used by other nursing schools with leadership reputations in gerontological nursing for educational and research purposes; and
  • Serve as the basis of our Annual Long Term Care Nursing Conference.

The University of Iowa Evidence Based Practice Guidelines are available for a nominal fee. See below for a catalog of available guidelines. Quick Reference Guides and Consumer Information Sheets accompany most of the guidelines. You may request these materials using the Order Form link.
