| Maas and Specht Deemed “Edge Runners” by Nursing Academy |

| University of Iowa College of Nursing Professor Meridean Maas, PhD, RN, FAAN, and Associate Professor Janet Specht, PhD, RN, FAAN, have earned the Edge Runners Award from the American Academy of Nursing (AAN). This is the inaugural year for this honor which recognizes nursing professionals who are on the cutting edge of finding new ways to integrate the mental and physical health of patients. | ||

UI College of Nursing professors Kitty Buckwalter and Janet Williams were honored at the 5th Annual Named Deanships, Chairs, and Professorships luncheon, sponsored by The University of Iowa and The UI Foundation, Sept. 22 at the Levitt Center. |

| Iowa to Iceland – a study of contrasts |
||
It’s a land where virtually every citizen knows the country’s population size, land mass in square kilometers, its geological idiosyncrasies and cultural history. Where the police are unarmed, the president’s house is unguarded, and where some residents still believe trolls and fairies occupy the countryside. A contingent of University of Iowa College of Nursing students and faculty discovered all this, and more, during a two-week trip to Iceland in May. |

| Brokel Earns Christy Award |

College of Nursing Assistant Professor Jane Brokel, PhD, RN, will receive the Teresa E. Christy Award from the Iowa Nurses’ Association at the organization’s convention October 4 - 6. |

| Visiting Scholar To Study Health Care Quality Improvement

Jeong-Hae Hwang, PhD, will spend the next ten months as a visiting scholar, co-hosted by the Nursing Services and Patient Care Department of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and the Systems and Practice Area of Study in the UI College of Nursing. |
