Study to examine nursing care’s impact on fall prevention
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has awarded a $300,000 grant to a UI research team to study the impact of nursing care processes on the quality of patient outcomes, regarding the prevalence of patient falls and injuries from falls. The two-year study will involve the participation of 190 patient care units from 45 hospitals in the U.S. Dr. Marita Titler leads the research team.
Rakel will study post-op pain control with $2.1 million grant
Assistant Professor Barbara Rakel, UI College of Nursing, has received a $2.1 million grant from the National Institute of Nursing Research to advance the study of pain control methods for older adults following total knee replacement surgery.
Convocation Sept. 5 to feature alumna Nancy Formella
The University of Iowa College of Nursing will officially mark the onset of the academic year with a convocation Wednesday, September 5, 2007. Alumna Nancy A. Formella will deliver the address titled “Oh, the Places You’ll Go! The Nurse as Leader in Patient Care Improvement.”
