| Regents Approve Plan to Reduce BSN Numbers |

| Tuesday, Dec. 4, the Iowa Board of Regents approved the UI College of Nursing’s plan to reduce enrollment in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. The move is part of a plan to shift emphasis to graduate programs in order to stem a nationwide shortage of nursing faculty. | ||
| Kahng wins Braverman Scholarship |

Peggy Kahng, a student in the Master of Science in nursing psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner program, is one of three University of Iowa students to be honored with the David and Rosalie Braverman Scholarship, given annually to graduate students with disabilities who have demonstrated academic excellence and who have contributed to the betterment of their undergraduate institutions and communities.

| Research on easing children’s pain will continue with $2.5 million grant |

| A new system under development by a team of researchers at the University of Iowa will help children better cope with pain during difficult medical procedures. Funding for the four-year project comes from a $2.5 million grant from the National Institute of Nursing Research and the National Institutes of Health. | ||

A four-year $1.2 million grant has been awarded to three Hartford Centers of Geriatric Nursing Excellence, including the center in The University of Iowa College of Nursing. The grant will be used to ensure nurses have the most recent evidence-based guidelines for caring for elders with mental health issues. |
