| Collins earns top honors |
Judith Collins, Lecturer in the College of Nursing, was presented with the Teresa E. Christy Award at the Iowa Nurses Association annual convention in Coralville on October 27, 2008. It honors a registered nurse that has demonstrated professional commitment to the improvement of health care and the interrelationship of nursing education, nursing practice, and nursing research. The award is named for Dr. Christy, RN, FAAN (1927-1982), who was a professor at the UI College of Nursing and acknowledged as the foremost nursing historian in the United States. Collins, recently elected president of the Iowa Chapter of the Psychiatric Nurses Association, was also presented with the Schroder Award at their annual meeting in Coralville. This award recognizes demonstrated strengths in clinical practice, promotion of an optimal environment for the delivery of psychiatric and mental health services, and contributions to professional organizations.
