| Dean Frantz named to Kelting Dean's Chair |
Rita A. Frantz, dean of the University of Iowa College of Nursing, has been named to the Kelting Dean's Chair in Nursing by UI Executive Vice President and Provost Michael J. Hogan. The endowed chair, named in memory of the late John C. and Catherine Meeder Kelting of rural Iowa County, was established through the UI Foundation to advance nursing education at Iowa. Frantz's predecessor as dean, Melanie Dreher, was the inaugural Kelting Chair. Frantz says the appointment is an honor, and the funds provided by the Kelting endowment give the college the opportunity to work toward key strategic goals. "The resources that accompany this chair enable us to support the most promising research programs and innovative practice initiatives," Frantz says. "This wonderful gift gives us a significant resource for advancing excellence in nursing education in Iowa." August 21, 2007 Hogan says faculty endowments like the Kelting Dean's Chair in Nursing are critical to the university's long-term success. "They give us the resources to pursue excellence in teaching, research and service; they help us attract and retain excellent faculty; and they demonstrate that our friends and benefactors are deeply committed to supporting our mission," Hogan says. "This appointment will allow Dean Frantz to continue building Iowa's position as a leader in nursing education and in the nursing profession." August 21, 2007 |
