Culp Named Fulbright Senior Scholar

University of Iowa College of Nursing Professor Kennith Culp, PhD, RN, FAAN, has been selected as a Fulbright Senior Scholar. For a period of five years, he will be available for short-term assignments to international colleagues for consulting, research, and teaching assignments dependent on the host country needs.

Culp is a nurse epidemiologist who conducts clinical research related to elders, both in the community and in the health care system. He is also interested in research related to modifying the workplace for older employees and injury prevention/health care for under-served worker populations.

The Fulbright Senior Scholar designation builds on Culp’s work in The Gambia, where he has studied how the goals of occupational and environmental health are achieved in a developing country and has shared insight about common occupational health and safety practices in the United States.

He is core director of the Occupational Health Nursing for the Heartland Education and Research Center for Occupational Health and Safety and holds a secondary appointment in the College of Public Health. Culp is a Fellow in both the American Academy of Nursing and the Gerontological Society of America.
