Current Doctor of Nursing Practice student Shanna Dewater was recently notified that she has been selected to receive the prestigious State of Missouri Excellence Award from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Dewater was nominated because of her activities and efforts that are improving advanced practice registered nursing in Missouri. “I am still in shock,” she notes. “This is truly awesome and I have the University of Iowa to thank for it!”

Dewater, who is slated to graduate in summer 2012, will be formally presented with the award at the Academy’s National Conference, June 20-24 in Orlando, Florida.
