Hartford research initiatives will serve the Midwestas a nexus for enhancing the quality
and quantity of gerontological nursing research
in the Midwest by coordinating:
- an expanded inter-university
senior-junior gerontological faculty mentoring program
- a gerontological seed grants program to aid
junior faculty in establishing successful programs
of gerontological nursing research, deliver week-long
summer method camps and initiate a 4-week summer
research intensive.

Nursing Excellence and the University of Missouri-Columbia
Sinclair School of Nursing, will give you the information

Young Scientist Program
The University of Iowa
College of Nursing Young Scientist Program provides year-long
mentored research experiences for undergraduate nursing
students. The
opportunity to participate as a YSP student is open to
all undergraduate and RN-BSN progression students. This innovative program is sponsored by The University of Iowa Provost's Office,
the John A. Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence,
and the Nancy Stence Creason Nursing Young Scientist Scholarship.
University of Iowa College of Nursing Faculty,
Postdoctoral Fellows, Doctoral Students and UIHC Staff are encouraged to participate as a mentor
with an active clinical nursing research project.

Gerontological Nursing Research
Summer Scholars Seminar
The Gerontological
Nursing Interventions Research Center (GNIRC) and the
Iowa Hartford Center for Geriatric Nursing Excellence
(HCGNE) will partner with the Arkansas HCGNE to host a Gerontological Nursing Research Summer
Scholars Seminar July 14-18. The GNIRC
and HCGNE will offer regional mechanisms for collaboration
and mentoring among Colleges of Nursing in the Midwest
region of the United States. The Summer Scholars Seminar
is a program to assist faculty members in revising and strengthening proposals after critiques.
