Through a series of funded research projects conducted since 1978, Dr. Tripp-Reimer has examined health behaviors among ethnic elderly, such as residential and care preferences, knowledge and use of folk medicine, illness-related self-care responses, patterns of alcohol use and abuse, representational models of diabetes, and patterns of prescriptive medication sharing. Her current work focuses on clinical interventions for minority elders. She is presently Principal Investigator of a study on "Acute Confusion: Assessment and Management," funded by the Iowa-VA Nursing Research Consortium. She is also Co-Editor of Advances in Gerontological Nursing.

As Associate Dean of Nursing Research, Director of the NINR-funded Gerontological Nursing Interventions Research Center, Director of the Institutional NRSA Training Program in Gerontological Nursing Research, and Director of the Iowa-VA Nursing Research Consortium, Dr. Tripp-Reimer has played an instrumental role in facilitating the growth of the gerontological nursing research and education programs at The University of Iowa.
