Debra L. Schutte, PhD, RN
Dr. Debra Schutte joined the Adult & Gerontology faculty in 2001, following completion of her PhD in gerontological nursing with a cognate area in human genetics. Dr. Schutte's program of research investigates the genetic basis of health phenomena particularly relevant to our growing elderly population, such as altered cognition, functional status, and behavior. Dr. Schutte's laboratory research currently focuses on the relationship between variations in candidate Alzheimer Disease susceptibility genes and variations in cognition, function, and behavior over time. She is active in multiple efforts to integrate genetics content into nursing practice, education and research and is a Past President of the International Society of Nurses in Genetics, Inc.
