Pat Nelson, MA, RN
Pat Nelson is the Regional Coordinator for The University of Iowa RN-BSN Program in the Mason City and Calmar satellite areas. She is a graduate of Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa and received her BSN and MA in Nursing from The University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa.
Previous teaching experience at The University of Iowa College of Nursing includes principles and practice of psychomotor skills and clinical concepts related to health and wellness of the child and family. Areas of clinical interest and expertise include pediatric and maternal-newborn nursing. Since 1992, Pat has served as an academic advisor and clinical instructor for Registered Nurses progressing to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. She currently provides instructional support for several courses in the nursing major and teaches in two clinical nursing courses for RN-BSN students.
Pat is interested in staying involved with professional nursing and health care issues. She is a member of Gamma Chapter Sigma Theta Tau and an active member of the Iowa Nurses' Association (INA) serving one term with the Iowa Nurses Foundation, and two terms as a member of the INA State Board of Directors. She served as President of District 10 in North Central Iowa for four years and continues to be active with regional INA activities. Pat also enjoys being involved in a variety of volunteer efforts to promote health and wellness in her community.
