Paula Mobily, PhD, RN

Dr. Mobily's interest in pain assessment and management, especially nonpharmacologic management of pain, has led to several research projects. Past projects include an evaluation of pain intensity tools for use with elders, a comparative study of the experience of chronic back pain in elders and non-elders, examination of the prevalence and impact of pain in rural elders, and development and validation of NIC pain interventions. As Principal Investigator, she has recently completed an NINR-funded project on "Elder Pain in LTC: Prevalence, Impact, and Management" and serves as Co-Investigator on two additional funded projects, "Elder Pain: Assessment of Intensity" and "Nonpharmacologic Analgesia for Invasive Procedures." She is Co-Investigator for the Iowa Geriatric Education Center Grant and is the Education Director for the Hartford Center at the University of Iowa College of Nursing.
