What do you do at the College of Nursing?
I’m one of the two secretaries for the Office of Teaching Services at the college.
What is your favorite part of your job, and why?
Interacting with faculty, staff & students of the CON.
What did you do before you worked at the college?
I worked in media for the Atlantic Community Schools in Southwest Iowa for many years. Before that, just after I finished school, I worked in accounting for the Iowa Beef Industry Council, where I met my husband, John, who worked for the Iowa Cattlemen.
Where did you grow up? Tell us something about your childhood/hometown.
I grew up and attended high school and college (ISU) in Ames, Iowa. I love Ames! Growing up, I spent the majority of my time working with horses—showing them and trail riding. Our family took our horses to the Black Hills every summer where you can ride for days and find no fences!
If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Vacationing with John and our sons anywhere there are mountains and some timber would be best for me. I love my family … and terrain!
What do you do away from the office? Tell us about your hobbies/volunteer activities, etc.
John and I spending time with our sons; our family is most important to me. My hobbies include gardening, Quarter Horses and quilting. I have spent many years as a 4-H leader and I volunteer at libraries in Central and Southwestern Iowa.
Tell us about your family.
I have been married to my husband, John, for more than 35 years and we have three grown sons, which, as many of you know, make us so proud. Our daughter-in-law and oldest son will be adding a grandson to our family this fall. In early August, we will have another new addition as our youngest son is getting married!
