
What do you do at the College of Nursing?
I am the Assistant to the Assistant Dean for Finance and Operations. I provide administrative support to the College of Nursing by assisting the Faculty Practice units and Continuing Education Coordinator (in training); providing accounting and staff support; managing the progression of all major College of Nursing building projects; and supporting the Assistant Dean for Finance and Operations, the Business Manager as well as the Dean’s office.
What is your favorite part of your job, and why?
Working with Hazel Kerr; she challenges me every day.
What did you do before you worked at the college?
I had worked for a group of researchers in the Optical Science and Technology Center within the University of Iowa for 15 years.
Where did you grow up? Tell us something about your childhood/hometown.
I grew up in Riverside, Iowa. It’s a small, rural town south of Iowa City. I grew up on a farm, which I believe gave me a good work ethic that got me where I am today.
What is the most recent book you’ve read? Did you like it and why?
Celebrity in Death by JD Robb. I have read Robb’s full In Death series and always look forward to the next one!
If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I’ve been to Hawaii, so my next destination would be somewhere in Mexico with white sand beaches.
What do you do away from the office? Tell us about your hobbies/volunteer activities, etc.
When I’m not at the office I enjoy working out and spending time with my children.
