Research/Clinical Interests: 
  • Nursing sensitive outcomes

Dr. Swanson is the author of 58 journal articles and book chapters. In addition, she has  edited with colleagues’ 11 books, including two outcomes editions and three linkage editions. The 5th edition of Nursing Outcomes Classification (NOC) has a publication date of 2013. In addition, she serves as a reviewer for  International Journal of Nursing Language and Classification, Geriatric Nursing, and Midwest Journal of Nursing Research and Journal of Nursing Scholarship. 

Dr. Swanson is an active team member of the Nursing Outcomes (NOC) team at the University of Iowa College of Nursing.
