Training in Nursing Effectiveness Research
Predoctoral and Postdoctoral
The award, funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research, will prepare graduate nurses to conduct efficacy and effectiveness research on clinical and managerial interventions.
Qualifications:
Predoctoral: candidates must meet all admissions criteria to Iowa's doctoral program; application due date February of each year.
Postdoctoral: candidates will be selected based on evidence of their potential for a career in nursing interventions, outcomes, and effectiveness research; application due date February of each year.
Funding:
Predoctoral: tuition, health insurance, $800 travel funds plus $20,722/year
Postdoctoral: tuition, health insurance, $800 travel funds plus $45,048/year*
(*4 years post doctoral experience)
Unique components of the program:
*Course work in either nursing administration, child and family, informatics or aging
*Course, Methods and Issues in Nursing Interventions, Outcomes and Effectiveness Research, will be
offered
*Student/faculty match to maximize mentorship in chosen research field
*Participation in one of the large research teams working on nursing interventions, outcomes, and effectiveness
*Participation in research activities related to the Center for Nursing Classification and Clinical
Effectiveness
*Participation in research seminars and national conferences
*Large group of faculty from several disciplines with research skills and background that can support efficacy and effectiveness research
