Gerontological Nursing Interventions Research Center (GNIRC) - Administrative Core

The Administrative Core of the GNIRC provides coordination and integration of the Center component facilities, faculty, resources and projects. It ensures that the objectives of the Center are achieved in a timely manner, that scientific productivity is maximized, and that Center funds are optimally utilized. It is responsible for the day-to-day operations and monitoring of research, training, and dissemination progress. The Center Director is also the director of the Administrative core, and is assisted by the Associate Director, and the Business Manager. These three persons, in concert with the directors of the other Core units form the Center's Executive Committee. The Administrative Core ensures the coordination of all Center units and functions.

  • oversees optimal use of Center funds and personnel resources
  • provides necessary scientific and administrative consultation to Core units and investigators
  • encourages and facilitates the training and development of junior investigators while providing a rewardingand an invigorating climate for senior investigators
  • serves as a liaison among the cooperative training programs and dissemination programs of the core units and component projects.

The pilot grant program of the GNIRC is funded and organized through the Administrative Core. To date, 19 pilot projects have been funded, covering a wide range of topics related to gerontological nursing.
