LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP

The Leadership Workshop will focus on the Needs, Environment, Appropriate Stimulation and Rest, and Techniques and Approaches (NEST) framework and process. This evidence-based framework is one important strategy to provide high quality person-centered care for older adults. A representative from the Iowa Department of Inspection and Appeals will also address current topics of interest relative to surveyors and person-centered elder care.
LONG-TERM CARE CONFERENCE

The Long-Term Care Conference will discuss evidence-based strategies for infusing a person-centered culture into the care of elders with behavioral challenges. The sessions will focus on specific interventions including wheelchair biking, animal assisted therapy, simple pleasures, and guided imagery. In addition, the keynote address will discuss key elements of culture change in long-term care and will discuss the roles of nurses and nursing assistants in leading the culture change.
