IOWA INVESTIGATOR: Anne Ersig

What is the focus of your research? What questions are you trying to answer? What problems are you attempting to solve?

My research focuses on understanding individual and family responses to actual or potential health problems from a biopsychosocial perspective. Currently, I am pursuing two lines of research related to this overall goal.

Herr Joins National Leaders to Develop Competencies for Pain Management Education

Keela Herr, PhD, RN, AGST, FAAN, professor at the University of Iowa College of Nursing, recently helped develop and lead an intensive two-day summit at UC Davis Health System with 30 other pain and education experts from throughout North America.

BSN Student Wins Prestigious Scholarship

Even though Amalia Gedney is originally from Wisconsin, she has always considered herself a Hawkeye at heart.                

Gedney has clearly felt right at home at UI’s College of Nursing, too. Not only has she excelled in her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, but she also recently learned that she was named a 2012 American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) Janssen Student Scholar.

“I feel honored to be recognized by APNA,” said Gedney. “I am very excited and look forward to representing UI and the College of Nursing.”

Recent DNP Graduate to Present at Innovation Institute

Lori Mein (DNP ’12) was recently selected to present at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing’s upcoming DNP Innovation Institute.

The Institute will feature the significant contributions of DNP-educated nurses on improving health care and clinical practice and illustrate how to make an idea sustainable by highlighting innovative evidence-based projects that solve real-world problems and improve patient care.
