Coalition seeks to increase training for nurses

An effort is underway to ensure Iowa’s nursing workforce is properly prepared to meet an increasingly complex and sophisticated health care system. Rita Frantz, Dean of the University of Iowa College of Nursing, is co-leader of the Future of Nursing Iowa Action Coalition.

Professor Specht Nominated as GSA Fellow

The Gerontological Society of America (GSA), the nation’s largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to the field of aging, has named 38 exemplary professionals—including the University of Iowa College of Nursing’s Janet Specht, PhD, RN, FAAN—as its newest fellows.

Clinton’s Nomination for DAISY Award Featured on Foundation’s Site

Professor Patricia Clinton, PhD, RN, ARNP, FAANP, assistant dean for graduate programs, was recently acknowledged by the DAISY Foundation as a 2012 DAISY Faculty Award winner.

DAISY, an acronym that stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System, formed as a nonprofit Foundation in November of 1999. It was founded by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP).
