UI DNP Student Recognized for Excellence

Current Doctor of Nursing Practice student Shanna Dewater was recently notified that she has been selected to receive the prestigious State of Missouri Excellence Award from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Dewater was nominated because of her activities and efforts that are improving advanced practice registered nursing in Missouri. “I am still in shock,” she notes. “This is truly awesome and I have the University of Iowa to thank for it!”

Anesthesia Program’s Accreditation Letter Signals Continued Excellence

The University of Iowa Anesthesia Nursing Program was recently notified by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) that its 2010 graduating class had a pass rate of 100 percent on the national certification exam.  

CON Alumni Assist, Honor Veterans in D.C.

WASHINGTON – Many of the World War II veterans who recently took part in South Dakota Honor Flight #11 required some assistance in order to visit the Washington, D.C. memorial built in their honor.

Dozens of volunteers, including twins June Gratz Schnieder and Joan Gratz – both University of Iowa College of Nursing alumni – were among those helping the veterans on this special journey.

The College of Nursing has been notified that two of our alumni will be 2011 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients.
