Anna Overland Nursing Scholarship Fund

Ms. Overland established this scholarship in 1994 in memory of her parents, Edwin and Lillie Overland. It is intended for students interested in maternal/child nursing. Ms. Overland is faculty emeritus of the College of Nursing, retiring after 24 years of teaching maternal/child nursing at the University of Iowa.

Overland, a UI contributor for more than four decades has had a long, distinguished career in nursing. After supervisory experience in maternal health nursing, Overland served as a nurse in the U.S. Army during and after World War II, spending most of her tour of duty in Korea. She has a master's degree from Columbia University Teachers College and was an assistant professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing and Health, and an administrator at Cincinnati General Hospital.

Ms. Overland chose to pursue nursing, and decided on the UI because it offered a combined course in nursing and liberal arts. Ms. Overland currently lives in her hometown of Story City, Iowa.
