Lola Lindsey Student Award Memorial Fund

This scholarship was established in 1997 as a part of the Centennial Campaign for the College of Nursing in memory of Lola Lindsey (GN'21), former Director of Nursing Education of the School of Nursing at the University of Iowa from 1948-49. As a faculty member at the School of Nursing, Ms. Lindsey was instrumental with the assistance of two colleagues in organizing a local chapter –Gamma chapter—of Sigma Theta Tau International in 1929. In 1934, Gamma Chapter hosted the national meeting and in addition, Ms. Lindsey served as national secretary from 1931 to 1934 and as national vice president from 1934 to 1936. Katherine Murphy Gay (GN'46) is the overseer of the award fund for the College of Nursing.
