Eloise Z. Leinfelder Fellowship Fund

Eloise Zeller Leinfelder was born on June 10, 1917 in Oxford Junction, Iowa , a small farming community. She received her bachelors degree in nursing in 1941 and her masters degree in nursing administration in 1958 from the University of Iowa .

Eloise spent her entire nursing career in Iowa City . She was a supervisor of the Eye Clinic at University Hospitals and Clinics, and a staff member of the University of Iowa College of Nursing. She was assistant chief of nursing at the Veterans Administration Medical Center .

In March of 1960 Eloise married P.J. Leinfelder, a faculty member of the College of Medicine .

Eloise was a lifelong advocate for education, which led her to establish a memorial award for nursing excellence.

There are three Leinfelder graduates of the College of Nursing : Eloise Zeller Leinfelder, GN 1941, MS 1958; Beverly Johnson Leinfelder, GN 1953, BSN 1958, MA 1960; and Susan Youngman Leinfelder, BSN 1963.
