Board of Visitors

The purpose of the College of Nursing Board of Visitors is to advise the Dean and faculty on the strategic agenda of the College concerning areas such as: entrepreneurial faculty practice, partnerships with industry, the need for greater ethnic diversity, the nursing shortage, professional discipline focal areas (i.e., school nursing, occupational health nursing), and the role of genetics in shaping the future of nursing.

Expectations of board member include:

  1. Attend all board meetings;
  2. Be informed about the College of Nursing's mission, goals, objectives and programs;
  3. Review agendas and supporting materials prior to board meetings;
  4. Make a personal financial contribution to the College of Nursing;
  5. Offer strategies to enhance the public image of the College of Nursing; and
  6. Serve as a means for two-way communication between the College of Nursing and leaders across various disciplines

The Board of Visitors meets annually in the fall of the year. Through conference calls and small work groups, the members of the board are also encouraged to provide information and advice vital to the College as they deem appropriate.
