Saturday & Evening Program (S&E) Part-time students may register for S&E classes, which typically meet in small classes (20-25 students) one evening/wk during Fall/Spring Semesters and 2 evenings/week during summer session. Students need not be admitted to the university to enroll in S&E classes.

ElluminateLive! and Adobe Connect  Web-based conferencing systems for synchronous online learning.  When faculty incorporate these technologies into a course, students will receive detailed information about how to access the conferencing websites from their personal computers.

Iowa Communications Network (ICN) Statewide system for fiber optic communication. Courses offered in multiple sites around the state by University of Iowa and other institutions. Specially equipped classrooms allow for video and audio interaction among all participating sites.

Guided Independent Study (GIS) Self-paced, flexible format. All required course materials, including texts, study guide, audio and videotapes, are available on course websites. Students need not be admitted to the university to enroll in GIS courses.

General elective courses required for the BSN may include any college-level course taken for credit. Hours needed will vary widely. Students can choose from Distance Education schedules, as well as daytime and transfer courses.

RN-BSN students must complete a minimum of 5 semester hours of nursing elective credit. The College of Nursing typically offers nursing electives each enrollment period in the Saturday & Evening Program and GIS formats, as well as weekend workshops semester-based, online courses.
