MNHP – Master in Nursing and Healthcare Practice
HISTORY OF THE PROGRAM AND ACCREDITATION INFORMATION
The professional Masters in Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP) degree program began at The University of Iowa in January of 2003. The final class of students to earn this degree will graduate in May of 2008, as the program will transition to an entry-into-practice Master of Science in Nursing with a Clinical Nurse Leader focus.
The MNHP program is an accelerated pre-licensure program which builds upon a student’s prior non-nursing undergraduate degree and provides the necessary knowledge and skills for entry into professional nursing practice. The program includes didactic and clinical practicum experiences ( 864 clinical contact hours) appropriate to a generalist education as well as clinical leadership experiences.
The program has been approved by Iowa Board of Nursing and is accredited, as are all our programs, by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Upon completion of the program students are eligible to sit for the NCLEX licensure examination. Students in this second degree accelerated program are prepared to provide clinical leadership in nursing at the generalist level and are eligible to sit for Clinical Nurse Leader certification.
